The Cannondale R&D department cooked up a noisy little product which sounds as good as it looks! It was immortalised in the 2012 Tour de France when Liquigas team sprinter Peter Sagan proudly sported one on the handlebar of his Cannondale Evo ‘Tourminator’. It clearly helped him move his rivals out of the way to win stages 2, 3 and 6 on his way to claiming the Green jersey. Rumour has it that the bell may have been sabotaged by a British sprinter on the way to La Planche des Belles Filles during stage 7, which prevented Peter from winning any further stages 😉
The bell itself is alloy and is attached to the plastic handlebar clamp with an alloy pin. The clamp is fully adjustable to suit most handlebars and the two rubber grips on either side ensure a firm grip once the wratchet is tightened. The integrated lever requires very little pressure to give a high pitched ‘ping!’
They were only available as an optional extra on 2013 Cannondale Evo road bikes, although some dealers did request bells for their Evo bikes and sold them separately. These are incredibly difficult to find.
