Zero Components PROTOTYPE ‘Hermann The Stem’

Here we have a super-rare Zero Components ‘Hermann The Stem’ from the early 1990’s. Zero supremo Declan Hicks never got past the prototype stage with this insane stem and used it for promotional purposes only.

CNC machined from a single billet of aluminium, it makes a beautiful paperweight. At best, it could be installed on a showbike or garage queen, but you could never ride it. Why? The steerer bolts are for show only – they don’t clamp anything 🙂

This very unique piece is the only one known to exist and it epitomises the creativity of British component manufacturers during the Golden Era of mountain biking.
