British company Grey Components spotted an opportunity to enter the headset locknut market in the early 1990’s with their own CNC machined Threadlock. It operates in exactly the same way as the popular Gorilla Headlock which was the market leader at the time.
To install, it is simply a case of removing your existing locknut and replacing it with the Threadlock. There is no need for a spanner, it can easily be tightened by hand with help from the grippy external surface. The locknut is split so that an M4 bolt can pass from one side to the other and tightened with a 3mm allen key.
They are available in 1″, 1 1/8″ and 1 1/4″ headset specific versions.
The only negative is the lack of a rubber o-ring at the top which would prevent water ingress.
It is also worth noting that Andy Grey used ZooBits as a distributor and some of these lockrings were branded and sold as ZooBits Threadlock.
