1990 Offroad Pro-Flex (Serotta)

An unexpected new arrival to the stable is a 1990 Offroad Pro-Flex, the first full-suspension mountain bike in history. Only 100 were produced for KG Engineering/Offroad by the legendary American frame builder Serotta.

This is a sentimental moment as I owned one from new back in the day… until it was STOLEN! I would like to say this my old one that I have been reunited with after all these years, but it isn’t. However, it still evokes so many good memories from my early racing days.

The good news is that the package is complete with the original True Temper straight-bladed fork, fluro yellow Offroad Flexstem, True Temper bars, Ritchey Logic headset (as spec’d for the UK at least, not Shimano Deore XT as per the catalogue spec) and CNC machined seat clamp.

The short term target is to rebuild in line with the original spec (inc. replacing the rear elastomer and Flexstem elastomers) so it can be ridden. But the medium/long term plan is a full frame/fork refurb.
